The year is 2021 and TikTok is bigger than ever. Star influencers like Charli Damelio, Addison Rae, and Bella Poarch are dominating the scene. With over 1 billion users on the app monthly, it appears that nothing could stop the growing platform. That is until the US government decided to intervene… Issues with TikTok’s parent company ByteDance cause the nation to question issues of data breaches while using their beloved app. As a member of the US government, how will you use your platform to navigate the future of TikTok? Will you ensure the app is taken down for good or will you fight for its right to stay? Its fate is in your hands.

Anna Kate Simpson (aka AK) is a second-year from Charlottesville, Virginia, majoring in Foreign Affairs and minoring in Data Science and Psychology. She’s on the Model UN travel team, and is Secretary of UVA's International Relations Organization. Anna Kate has previously served as a crisis staffer for VAMUN and VICS, UVA's collegiate conference. Outside of MUN, she loves to go on long walks with friends, listen to Taylor Swift, volunteer at various places around grounds, find new cafes and bookshops, and scroll endlessly on TikTok :)

Kushaan Soodan is a second year from Fairfax Virginia majoring in Public Policy and Economics. He has been active in MUN since his freshman year of high school and has previously served as a crisis staffer for VAMUN. He is also the USG of Logistics for VIGMUN and an active member of UVA’s travel team. Outside of IRO, Kushaan enjoys reading sci-fi and mystery novels and is an active part of several political organizations on grounds and in the Charlottesville community. He is excited to welcome everyone to Charlottesville for an amazing weekend!
