Nothing but Net: NBA Global Expansion and Management Committee

Topic 1: Global Expansion and International Collaboration

Topic 2: Ethics, Governance, and Player Welfare

Background Guide

Welcome to the NBA Global Expansion and Management Committee. As the NBA continues to broaden its global reach, this committee is tasked with navigating the complexities of international markets and ethical management in the dynamic world of professional basketball. Delegates will represent various NBA stakeholders, including team owners, players’ associations, the executive office, international basketball federations, and media partners, each bringing a unique perspective to the table. Our discussions will focus on two critical areas: Global Expansion and International Collaboration, where delegates will strategize the NBA’s entry into new markets like Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe, forge partnerships with international leagues, and develop culturally sensitive marketing strategies. The second area, Ethics, Governance, and Player Welfare, will address the formulation of policies that ensure player health and safety, fair compensation, diversity in management, and the ethical implications of media interactions. This committee offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of basketball on a global stage while ensuring the sport adheres to the highest standards of integrity and inclusivity. Join us in crafting policies that not only expand the game’s reach but also foster a safe and fair environment for all its stakeholders.
